Hi Alan, this is Ricky, the key person-in-charge of race management. Thank you for bringing your concerns regarding the 3K race to our attention.
The change in course length from 3K to 2.4K was made due to heavy rain and significant pooling of water on the promenade. To ensure the safety of all runners and protect the chip timing equipment, the "Turning Point 1" had to be instantly moved to earlier, drier location to maintain the accuracy of the timing system. Due to the change in the course layout, all runners' official results will be shown as 2.4K.

While our primary goal was to ensure a safe and timed event, we acknowledge that this last-minute route adjustment was not clearly communicated to all runners, leading to the confusion you described. Thank you again for your feedback and for helping us improve. We hope this issue will not deter you from joining us at future races.

The 3k was a big mess. The course measured about 2.4k since some idiot placed the 1k turning point at the 700m mark. Totaly unbelievable that this was not noticed by anyone considering how many 3k races are held on the promenade every year on exactly the same course. A big fail.
